You drop into Arc Raiders thinking you'll "just take a quick fight" and leave. Yeah, no. The game punishes that mood fast. If you want to keep your gear, you learn to slow down for a second, read what's in front of you, and move like you mean it. I started treating every push like it costs something—ammo, meds, noise, time. Even stuff like planning routes around sightlines matters, especially if you're trying to bank loot or save up ARC Raiders Coins without getting sent back to the lobby for being reckless.
Weak Spots Aren't Optional
Machines look tanky until you stop shooting "at the robot" and start shooting parts. Rotors, exposed cores, leg joints—anything that looks like it shouldn't be outside the armor probably shouldn't. Hit those and you'll see the difference right away: stumbles, short stuns, broken movement. That tiny pause is your window. Reload. Slide to cover. Swap weapons. If you keep spraying center mass, you're basically paying extra bullets for the same outcome, and you won't like the bill.
Light Guns Still Win Fights
A lot of players chase the biggest gun like it's a comfort blanket. Big damage is nice, sure, but light weapons do real work when things get messy. I use them to mess with sensors and break pressure, not to flex DPS. If something's locking on and you're stuck in a bad angle, quick bursts can throw off its aim long enough to sprint. It's scrappy, but it's effective. And honestly, most deaths come from being pinned for two seconds too long, not from having the "wrong" gun.
People Are the Real Jump Scare
The bots are predictable once you've seen enough of them. Other players. That's pure stress. Sometimes you run into someone doing the same quest and neither of you wants a full-on war. The "don't shoot" emote can actually work, which feels ridiculous until it saves your run. Still, don't stand there like a tourist. Keep cover close. Keep your exit in mind. Friendly vibes are great, but trust isn't a loadout slot.
Third Parties Are Everywhere
Gunfire is basically an invitation, and the map has plenty of guests. If a PvP fight drags on, it's usually smarter to cut it and leave than to "win" and get cleaned up while you're looting.
